Good Thots from God's Word

Psalm 40:16-17 "…let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified. But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me. Thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God."

I am always on God's mind. There is never a moment that I'm not in His thoughts. Is He on my mind continually?

Just sharing what I gleaned this morning.

Rummaging Around

The ReRun Shop had half price yesterday, so a friend and I checked it out. Got several tops and some "grand" stuff for the flower shoppe.

Not much exciting happened, worked on the second "flag" wreath. Have it almost done. I have to attach pew clips to 12 bows that will go in the sanctuary. This is for a Red, White, and Blue Sunday honoring the first responders in our area. Our youth pastor is the chaplain for the State Patrol Post in Osceola. Each branch of responders will receive a framed print of an eagle and flag. I think that someone from the Des Moines area painted the picture. I was able to get a flag from Senator Grassley's office -- 5' x 8' to hang in the front of church.

Mom's Barber Shop was in business last evening. It was nice to catch up on news from that Wires branch. Also got some tips for working with the graphics programs that Joel and I use. So thankful that I have a good teacher in the neighborhood.

Spent some time with my Dad yesterday afternoon. Took him down to the Assisted Living's library and showed him my new web site for Just Silks -- the link is at the bottom of "About Me." Also showed him the Blog. He was very interested in the new pictures of Wesley. Joel and Amber take Wesley to see him on Tuesday evenings.

Dad started sketching and drawing yesterday. I'm glad. It gives him something else to do. He is having a Vespers Service on Tuesday evenings, a Wednesday morning Bible Study, and has had a Sunday afternoon service for the last two Sundays. He has written two books and a couple of tracts since his stroke. I was informed that he has an outline for another book. His eyes are giving him problems, so we saw the eye doctor and surgeon. He will have his first cataract surgery May 9 and the probably the second surgery on the 23rd.

Well must start my day.  Have a great day in the Lord.

April 29 early morning

Peek-a-boo! I see Grandmom.
She took these while I was
on her lap.

Wesley O had been fussy all day. He was really crying and all scrunched up when Amber brought him over. So I massaged his tummy and back and he got rid of some "toots" along the way. He and I snuggled for awhile. Mmmm........ so cuddly. Benny, the pup, behaved wonderfully. Will keep watching him when Wesley is around.

Wreath I made for Red, White, and Blue Sunday at Church. We are honoring our first responders --police, sheriff, EMT, and firemen.

Andy and Melissa's new front/side patio. Hope the plants don't freeze tonight.
Had wonderful time in Ankeny this last weekend. Melissa had a shower for Wesley. There were 25 ladies that came, mostly from their church. A card table was full of neat "stuff." Grandma Kephart got Wesley a Sunday outfit--blue blazer, tan pants, white shirt, blue tie. I remember Joel's first suit. It was light blue with trousers and matching vest. He had a tiny navy bow tie at his neck. Hmmm........ Grandmom Wires will have to get busy and make him a bow tie like Great-Granddad U wears.

We played the pregnant ice cube game. Since the shower was come-and-go, the one that received the prize was the one whose water bore a baby instead of a plastic bead. Melissa had quite a time getting the objects to freeze in the ice. Her ice was see through. She was hollering HELP quite loudly when I arrived Friday evening. So, I put a bit of milk into the water and froze it in three sections. This worked quite well.

Andy and Larry shopped while the shower was in progress. Melissa and I shopped a bit afterwards, but we were both so tired that we hurried home.

Okay, don't promise anything as far as updating things on this blog. 'Till next time.
