Flowers and MORE flowers

This is Monica's bouquet.

The following pictures are of the wedding to
take place this coming weekend.

I have second wedding in October with much the same flower arrangements as these but in pink, black, and aqua.

Had a reaction to my allergy shot. I waited the 40 minutes, but had fleeting funny feelings in my throat. Let the clinic, went to Farm and Home, and had gotten on the inside when I felt I was going to faint. I didn't think I could make it back to the clinic so went across the street to the Medicap Pharmacy. They called the clinic and one of the pharmacists drove me in our van to the clinic. They gave me a goodly dose of Benadryl which let me take a good, long afternoon nap. Not sure what brought that all on. Had some water in the basement last Friday. Not sure if there is mold down there. I have 3 fans blowing so it seemed to dry up fairly fast.

Ordered a new camera through Walmart online. It was shipped to the store and is there so am off to get things done before the heat gets too oppressive.

Wednesday June 17, 2009

Countdown to June 27. Here is the glass decoration, I assume it is for each table. I have 20 of these to fix. I have the wrist bokas that are pictured in the previous posting all done. Five in all. I still have the groom and groomsmen's to do. Want to get them all done and pictures taken by this weekend. Then on to the July 11 wedding flowers.
Then next one is August and 2 in October.

Been behind a couple of days as Dad had some "bug" grab him by the throat. He has fever of 102ยบ a couple of days and so weak that took several to get him to the bathroom and back. Monday, yesterday, he called to say he felt more normal. Praise the Lord.

I am anxiously awaiting shipment of "Nikki." She is a Nikon D60 camera. I have been wanting a different camera for several years. One that I can fiddle with settings, take really good close-ups, and good pictures of flowers, landscapes, flower arrangements, and grandkiddos. Been saving birthday and Christmas money for several years. Told Larry that I feel broke. Oh well, it will be nice to have anyway.

Monday night we have a family prayer circle around my friend's parents home. Lynne and her hubby were inside. She is struggling to keep on top of the cancer. The cancer in her throat is pretty much taken care of, but the masticization of the cancer to the lungs and bones is taking it's toll. Her oxygen levels have been very low and are on the rise. She has been very weak and she is having more strength. Back to the prayer circle. There were approximately 150 people  there from church and the community. It was neat to see everyone holding hands and praying around the house.

Must go get allergy shots before the time is up. To be hot and humid here and storms gathering afternoon and evening with strong winds and hail. "doodie dumdrops."

Been long time.....

Sorry about not letting people know what's happening here in the land of corn and swine.
Had a lot of rain and been a cool spring. Days have been just lovely and nights cool. Had several opportunities to take Dad out in the wheel chair and walk him up and down the sidewalk. He seemed to enjoy it. Last evening we went to see him instead of going to the VBS closing program. I suggested that we go out and sit outside for awhile. He really didn't want to go, but I got him to say he would. We were out for a few minutes, and I asked him if he wanted to go in. "No, this is rather delightful. I don't want to go in." We enjoyed the evening for about an hour.
Been getting ready for the Big garage sale of the year. I had gone through enough stuff of Dad's  and some of our things that I had boxes floor to ceiling in the back print room, the south bay of the garage, and the room back of the garage. Andy and Melissa came down last Thursday evening, and we opened up with a  flourish. We had a constant stream of people from 7:30 till 6 p.m. on Friday and from 7:30 till one on Saturday. I advertised it as an estate garage sale.
Our local paper has a reputation for getting things messed up. Sure enough, the house number was wrong, it was 103 instead of 1003. Called them Thursday evening and left a message. Returned a call Friday and was told that all would be well with that evening's paper. Hmmmmm......still 103.
Was interesting that a couple of little old ladies came saying that they had gone into the "piercing parlor" but they didn't have garage sale things around. We had posted signs in the 100 block of Elm so that people would know.
There were 5 groups in the sale, and our gross sales were $1,355 for the 2 days. Held the sale yesterday, and we had sales of $366, and that was with most everything half the price. Today it started raining at 4 a.m. and is still raining. The Lord knows that there is still a bunch of stuff left. Am planning on a "Bag sale" today. Everything is in the garage and will be able to stay that way for people to look it over. Knew that there was a possibility of rain today so planned things as we quit last evening.
VBS was a good week. We had rain one day, but recreation took place in our new "bus barn" of sorts. We topped 150 on Wednesday, but haven't heard what Thursday and Friday's attendance was. This year in crafts we didn't open one can of paint. Can't believe it. We did foamie door knob holders, fabric covered paper mache photo frames, Gospel bracelets, and wire name sculptures accented with colored wire and beads. Had excellent help and the Lord allowed everything to proceed smoothly.
Well now have to focus on upcoming weddings. Have one boka done and the bride e-mailed me and told me that she absolutely loves it. If she is loves it, then I love it. It is very beautiful. We had a rocky start, as the first photos showed the bride that she wanted changes. I endeavor to get the flowers right so that the bride will love them and enjoy her big day. I made up the boka as per her instructions, but when she saw the pictures she wanted a total redo, and that's okay with me. Here's the way it is now.

Rejoicing

Okay, so Paul, the Apostle, (told by the Holy Spirit, of course) knew that we are stubborn creatures and had to be told things twice. Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always: AND AGAIN I say, Rejoice." Today it's harder than others. "Lord, Help me ONLY think about my blessings." 1. my salvation, 2. my Bible, 3. my family, 4. my dear friends, 5. air I breathe, 6. that I can get up and go.........

Today is Tuesday

A new day spread before me. What mischief can I accomplish? Hmmm.. Dug through the garage in search of a box of dad's artwork that I've protected and put in a safe place. Not there. Tore apart every closet and storage place in the house. Nope, nothing, nada. My prayer is that when we have the garage sale I can spot it somewhere.

Facebook

Facebook is interesting. I have had the practice of perusing phone books when in a different city. Over the years I have run across an occasional Ubbink, a few Wires, and several Wanners. Well, did this same thing on Facebook. Came across a man in the Netherlands that has the same name as my Granddaddy, Dirk. I thought about it for awhile and then wrote him a note yesterday. I got a nice note back. He is a physician there in Holland. He wasn't aware of any Ubbinks in the USA. I don't want to be a nuisance to him, but I plan to write him back.

Beautiful day here. Wesley is cutting teeth again and he has a runny nose and cough. He now likes to chase me around the circle from the living room around to the kitchen. He gets this little grin and just walks fast

Wesley ate his green beans and shell mac & cheese by himself. Big Boy! Finally caught Wesley standing with his hands behind his back. He does this quite often. I've seen Larry do it and Joel puts his hands on his hips every once in a while. Melissa said, "Monkey see, Monkey do."
